Great Sights of Geneva

Lake Geneva is one of the main attractions of Geneva and the lakefront is the centrepiece of this chic city. This is Europe's largest Alpine lake and has plenty of attractions to keep you busy. You can take a boat cruise on the lake itself where all you need to do is sit back and enjoy the views.

The area surrounding Lake Geneva is a great place to take a stroll and the yacht-packed harbour makes a fine spot to stop for a rest. If you’re feeling peckish, the promenades along the left and right banks of the lake are filled with cafes and street markets where you can sample some traditional foodstuffs.

The Bains des Paquis on the western shore of the lake has been a firm favourite since its opening in 1932 and continues to draw visitors and locals alike. The saunas and unique bathing areas offer an authentic Swiss experience and are a welcome amenity after a day on your feet.

Dominating the lakes eastern bank, the giant Flower Clock in the English Garden is a tribute to Geneva’s watch industry and an interesting sight to see. The dial is composed of around 6500 flowers and is updated with new arrangements several times per year.

Another feature of the lake is the Jet d’eau, one of the world’s tallest water fountains which spouts around 140 metres into the air. When it is in operation, at any given moment there are about 7000 litres of water in the air so you might want to take a rain coat!

Geneva’s ancient Old Town is a maze of sloping cobblestone streets and winding alleyways which are filled with cafes and boutiques, with historical landmarks around almost every corner. A former Roman marketplace, the Bourg-de-Four is the oldest public square in Geneva and a bustling spot to stop by.

If you visit the Old Town then a trip to Saint Peter’s Cathedral is essential. Located on Cour Saint-Pierre the Cathedral towers over the Old Town and is Geneva’s oldest architectural treasure. The Cathedral was began in 1160 and took over 400 years to complete.

The north tower affords you panoramic views of the city while the basement houses an Archaeological Museum with artefacts dating back to 350 AD.

No trip to Geneva is complete without a visit to the European Headquarters of the United Nations. The Art Deco building is accessible only via guided tour and offers a unique insight into the inner workings of one of the world’s most important international organisations.

Last but not least, if you feel like indulging in a spot of shopping then the Rue du Rhône is the place to go. Famous luxury brands and independent boutiques are fascinating to have a nosy around, even if you are only window shopping.

Flights to Geneva are available from hundreds of international destinations so you can book your Swiss trip away with ease.

Would you find it disrespectful if?

A rookie wrestler (lets say from NXT)
He had extremely similar style as Benoit. He had the look & all & openly admitted Benoit was his inspiration.

On a SD! show he came out using this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X15NH9I_EAU
& made it his permanent theme, do you think its disrespectful or appropiate since he's paying tribute by using it?

I don't mind if they said they took Benoit's styles as their inspiration. In fact, I applaud that. People that can wrestle like Benoit is very rare these days. Same intensity, tenacity, and technical ability. Hell, Jericho said that Benoit is one of his inspiration and mentor in terms of style and to give their best in each match. I like that. That incident and drug problem was one a few of the bad things of what Benoit really was. He was a good guy, but drugs, stress, and roids got the best of him. I mean, if you seen the guy wrestler and throw great matches here and there, (assuming you want to e a pro-wrestler) wouldn't you say its inspiring? Not a lot of wrestler can match up to Benoit's level and share the same level of dedication to the fans he had. If that is his reasoning, I can respect that.

As for the music, that is disrespectful. Not just to Benoit but the band as well. Our Lady Peace. Because Our Lady Peace took it kind of hard. It was like, our song was used for a murderer. That is kind of shameful. For the sake of the band and Benoit, its best to not use his theme song, especially if its meant to pay "respect" for Benoit. But yeah. Lets try not to use the same gimmick, songs, and so on, but I see nothing wrong with following his wrestling style.
