The sense of smell can trigger strong emotions. It can take you back to a different time in your life, such as when you smell cookies baking. Or the smell of your mother's perfume, can take you back to when you were a kid.

The best spots are behind your ears, at the base of your throat, your wrists, and even behind your knees, but just a tiny dab will go a long way.
