Picking the right aftershave
Aftershave is exactly what it name describes - a product used by men on the skin of their faces after shaving. Aftershave encompasses a wide range of products – it may be a lotion, gel, balm, powder or a liquid that may or may not contain an anti-septic agent to prevent infections from cuts. Allergies- The most important factor to test before buying an aftershave is to check whether your skin is compatible with it, and how well the aftershave ‘co-operates' with your skin. Sometimes it is hard to judge whether you are allergic or not without trying it, but it you have sensitive skin, then you should always ask for aftershaves that have passed a dermatological check for sensitive skin.

Most aftershaves contain alcohol – the alcohol is said to help close pores and prevent irritation. Is there anything i can use as aftershave substitute?
I need to shave yet i am left with no aftershave and i was wondering if there was anything i could use and/or do to take the place of aftershave until i can get another bottle.
after shaving, sometimes i use cold water and wet a facecloth. apply the cold cloth to the skin. not only will it close your pores, but it cools the skin where you have just shaved. seems to work well for me.
also, when you have just gotten out of the shower, apply shaving cream to your wet face. the warmth from the shower will have opened your pores, and applying the shave cream to the skin and letting it sit for a minute will help soften the hair, and make for a smoother shave.
