Spotting Fake Designer Perfumes
It’s common to walk into a random fragrance shop and fall in love with a certain perfume and buy it. Also, you may be in search of a particular designer perfume you are looking for and search for the best prices in local perfume shops or online, but are worried about getting the best quality. Nowadays it’s very easy to get fooled by the many imposters and pay for a fake perfume. It’s important to learn to spot the difference. When you go into a fragrance shop and speak with the clerk, ask to see the box up close. Review closely if there are any statements such as designer impostor, or inspired by. There are legitimate companies out there that make perfumes like the originals, and have permission and are required to state that their perfume isn’t the original, but made to smell like it.
A good way to check the validity of a fragrance store is by asking if they offer such perfumes, and if they deny it and you still find this information, then avoid buying from them altogether. Another important part to checking if the perfume shop sells original designer perfumes is by making sure that the box is the same as other originals. If you are a diehard fan or a particular perfume and are looking for it in fragrance shops and want to find the best price, it’s a great way to find out if it’s an original or rip-off. You may want to maybe take your old box, of course if you know for a fact that it was the original, and compare it with the perfume at the fragrance store.
If you find any differences, and they claim that it’s an original, do not buy from this perfume shop. When reviewing the box, ask them to take the bottle out. Ask the clerk in the fragrance shop to open up the box so you can see the bottle. It’s important that they don’t just hand you a tester and its box, as that may be original. When buying a perfume in a fragrance shop make sure that you also check the spelling of the designers’ name, as that is commonly used by impostors. Many impostors at fragrance shops may have the correct packaging, down to the spelling of the designers name; however, even though the bottles are original the color is different. If the perfume you are looking for is a certain color, say yellow, then the perfume at the fragrance shop shouldn’t be a different color. Make sure that you also check for dilution.
If the Women’s perfume at the fragranceshop is lighter colored than the original you had it could have been diluted. This is very important to watch out for as sometimes chemicals that are dangerous are used. Bottling of a perfume is very important. This is why you ask the clerk at the fragrance shop to open up the box so you can examine the bottle and of course the consistency. Check the liquid weight of the perfume and if it matches the one of your own original. Another important thing to check is the atomizer of the perfume. Is it the same color, size, and shape as the original? Also, review the different stamps that are typically on the original of the bottle you have had in the past, and if they match. The above becomes almost impossible to check. It’s important that you ask for as many pictures as possible and if they send stock pictures don’t buy. If it’s directly from their website, than you may want to go into further research through search engines and possible comments in blogs. Make sure that they have a good return policy in case that you discover that it’s not an original. Just keep in mind; if the price is really low, then it’s most likely a fake. The best and most trusted way to find high quality designer perfumes at the best prices is through department stores. Also when a trusted fragrance shop has coupons available or a special sale. There’s nothing better than having a direct trusted place that you have purchased quality from before, and department stores have only originals.
It’s very important that you buy only original perfumes as the fake ones not only lose their scent after a while, but may also start to smell bad, and of course, for health reasons, as you don’t know what kind of chemicals were used.
