Halloween costumes for tweens

what is significant in the book "Memoirs of a Geisha"?
what are a couple aspects of the book "Memoirs of a Geisha" that are significant in asian history. i read the book, and i am having trouble thinking of anything that was really significant to the history of asia. are the geisha themselves significant, the presents the men bought them, the kimono they wore? i'm having trouble.. HELPP!
also think of the colors that keep repeating throughout the book... probably reds whites yellows blacks... if you look up what those colors mean, they are quite significant. also maybe some objects like trees or leaves... water... fire? i haven't read the book i've seen the movie, but i'm in English III AP so i know quite a bit about this subject.
maybe something that comes up a lot throughout the book that the sisters are trying to keep in contact with each other... um...
maybe the foods they eat, or the rituals they go through to be a "true Geisha" are signigicant to asian history.
