Idylle - Guerlain's Take On the Youthful Scents Of Florals
Idylle is Thierry Wasser's first fragrance as the in-house perfumer of Guerlain. This fragrance is entirely different from the classic scents of Guerlain. Idylle is all about the young. According to Guerlain, it's a modern interpretation of Guerlinade. In the perfumery parlance, it's a combination of white musk and patchouli. Translating it to a perfumista's lingo, it's simply a department store fragrance. With that said, is Idylle of lesser quality than the other fragrances in Guerlain's selection?
Let's check out the components of the scent before we jump into conclusions.Idylle is a harmony of floral sweetness where the universal flower of romance rose, is the dominant accord. The floral feast includes freesia, lily from the valley, peony, lilac and jasmine. An earthy ambiance is present in the dry down. The youthful character of the fragrance is expressly stated by the notes as it conjures images of femininity and freshness..
Sunny days or not, this is the perfect floral scent. The floral composition makes it appear more gentle.. In fact, this is not a bad scent after all. Perhaps, you can surmise that Idylle is one of safe scents to wear nowadays. It's not stellar as compared with the other Guerlain perfumes but rather an everyday fragrance you can wear at work.A year ago, Idylle only comes in eau de parfum. Difference between a glowing complexion and a shiny one?
I'm just now using L'Or de Guerlain as a primer but I cannot decide if it makes me look glowing or shiny. Admittedly work has strip lights but still.
