All about fragrances
We love fragrances. Both of us love the women's perfume Nuits Indiennes (Indian Nights) made by Jean-Louis Scherrer in Paris. Unfortunately, they have not made it in years. The last of a bottle was being meticulously rationed only for very special occasions. What a surprise to have my husband locate a bottle and give it to me as a birthday present....then another bottle for Christmas. He found unopened bottles of his and my #1 fragrance online on eBay of all places. Both bottles still had the plastic wrapper on the box. Amazing!
My newest women's perfume favorite is Kalimantan offered by Chantecaille. It is simply divine! My body chemistry and the oils in this fragrance concoction puts both of us almost on sensory overload we like it so much. And this brings me to a point I want to make. Just because a perfume smells great on one person does not mean it's the ideal fragrance for another. You've got to test it on YOU. If you like it and the one you love likes it....and I mean really likes it and is not just saying they do....then chances are you've found a real winner.
Okay, I realize that what I'm about to share should be closely categorized as no-brainer material. But, I'd rather put this out there regarding fragrances than to ass-u-me (get it?). Ladies, don't mix your fragrances! I know girls who bath with one fragrance, use a deodorant that has a heavy fragrance, douse themselves in yet a different fragrance right out of the bath or shower, come home from the day and try to cover all those lingering fragrances with ANOTHER evening perfume. STOP IT! I suggest that if you want to change from daytime to evening fragrances, you take a quick shower and rinse off the day. Start fresh so that you're singularly alive with your evening scent if going out on the town is the thing.
Speaking of. Have you ever shaken hands, men or women, with someone who used their hands to put on their fragrance and that someone did not bother to wash their hands immediately afterward? I hate when that happens! You come away with a part of them on you. What they think is good usually gives me a bad feeling. For sure, that's the opposite of what women's perfume and men's colgne is designed to do.
Taking it slow when it comes to fragrances
Moderation. That's all that needs to be said. If you think you need more of your fragrance after 2 or 3 sprays, you are wrong. You don't! So stop it. Too much of a good thing is a BAD THING! And for conflicting scents, what goes for the women goes for the guys. Using a heavily scented deodorant and then a half a bottle of some "after-shave" plus another brand of cologne is awful. You are not enticing when you do that, you're overpowering and you stink. What are you trying to cover up or hide? That's the subliminal red flag you're sending out to those prospective someone's.
Favorite men's cologne fragrance, you ask? We like several: John Varvatos Vintage, Zirh, and Atelier Cologne's Orange Sanguine. All three are very different from each other and not your everyday run of the mill scents. Before purchasing, you should try them out to make sure of compatibility.
